Healthcare
3. HEALTH CARE
Health Care literacy in the Black community is important to Black and African American people. This is also important to many health care providers.
Why?
Evaluating risks and benefits that affect their health and safety.
Because of this,
Having a great knowledge and involvement in the health care field can help us prevent health problems, protect our health, and better manage health problems that may arise.
Having a patient that is familiar with medical terms and how their body works increases the likelihood that a patient will return to their health care providers.
We will:
a. Support local board efforts to initiate grass roots citizen action to reduce overreliance on property taxes.
b. Engage in concerted efforts to reform the methodology for funding state aid for school construction.
c. Promote an understanding that “one-size-fits-all” solutions are not viable for the Black community.
d. Actively seek direct funding for “High School to Health Care” funding.
